After morning classes on Wednesday February 10th students, faculty, and alumni of St. Marys College gathered in McCabe theater for the annual Talent Show.  This year’s student performers delighted the audience with a variety of music, poetry, and drama, including Irish dance—complete with acrobatics— a recitation from G.K. Chesterton’s “Ballad of the White Horse,” and a selection from Roughing It by Mark Twain, dramatically rendered as a “reader’s theater.”  A panel of alumni judges selected the top three performances: third place went to Erik Weissing and Mark Bomberger, violinists,  who played Ungar’s Ashokan Farewell and Corelli’s Allegro No. 1 in D Major; second place was awarded to Danny Eddy, Bridget Dowd, Natalie Riccomini, Claire Pederson, and Trinity Smalley, who sang a cappella “Shut De Door,” a medley by the Martins; and first place was won by Sarah Grieco, Emma Jane Awerkamp, Rose Spragge, Bridget Dowd, Chris Murtha, Mark Greene, Andrew Dvorak, and Autumn McMillan who performed an original comic skit, “Latin Class,” which stole the show with humorous classmate impersonations, and highlighted the camaraderie and unique “family” atmosphere students enjoy at St. Marys College.
